What Dojo is
Dojo is where Alchemy trains and optimizes models for the people who will actually live with them, which means anyone with a phone, a commute and a list of things to get through. We equip them with manners, knowledge and skills that make daily life a little lighter, because a model that is merely well informed was never going to be enough.
We believe voice is the most natural way to interact with computers and their intelligence, for the same reason it is how people have always interacted with each other. Everything we build starts from there.
What we're researching
Conversation
Voice as an interface is highly nuanced, so we work on models that follow the way people really talk, with its pauses, corrections and unfinished thoughts, and that answer at the pace of a conversation.
Agency
Models that can think and act are orders of magnitude more helpful than those that can only answer, so we work on unhobbling the models to take the next step on your behalf and to know when to stop and check in.
Behavior
How a model behaves matters more than its raw intelligence. We study tone, restraint and judgment, including when to speak, when to deliberate and how to disagree without making someone feel small.
Trust
People share personal and private information with models, so protecting those conversations is part of the research from the first day and not a feature added as an afterthought.
